
KUALA LUMPUR Nov 10, 2014:
Former Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Bakri Omar passed away following a bout with cancer, today. He was 66.
Bakri breathed his last at 8.45am at the National Cancer Institute in Putrajaya, today.
Bakri served as the country’s seventh IGP between November 2003 and September 2006, succeeding Tan Sri Norian Mai.
Bakri started his career in the force as an Assistant Superintendent (Cadet) in 1971 and rose up the ranks over the years.
Bakri’s remains are expected to be buried at the Bukit Kiara Muslim cemetery later today.
